Textile/Epoxy strongpoints once again.

Textile strongpoints are light strong cheap and easy to adapt to specieal needs. Working with composite sandwich construktion even wood and in general. A general rule is to spread out the forces as much as possible. Here I use polyester rope in NM-epoxy. I make a zeppelin loop knot and cut it gettin...

The long M8 insert nuts

This is the beginning of the production of the 25 long M8 nuts. I have chosen M8 screws becouse they have more pitch compared to M6. They need fewer turns to be installed. They are also more robusts. The threads are less likely to get damaged. There are quite a few steps to make them. hopefully Pete...

Hatches under the bed. I will sleep on them

There will be 2X6 = 18 hatches under the bed. Secured with pegs and screws. The extra 30 mm Divinycell will give extra insulation below my back. Previus boat did not have this useful arrangement. Up in the cold waters near Iceland condensation and mildew formed under the mattrass even with Divinycel...
The last compartment under the bed is now subdivided.

The last compartment under the bed is now subdivided.

All the subdivisions below the bed is now done. As said before the battery is moved to the dining room below the seat. It will be lead batteries. Now with the twin keels I do not need the them as ballast but I do not trust lithium. I think lithium works 99.99% or more but I like much safety. Thats w...

All the subdivisions for the water cans now done. But problems the batteries do not fit their space

All the subdivisions are now done. I have been more lucky than I rightly deserve. The forward ones got squezed in just. No little margin left. I will try to move the batteries to the back below the seat. I am considering an electric motor for landfall use and for entering harbors. If you know a smal...

No one number can give the size of a boat

How big is a boat. Will your new boat be bigger? Lenght is the number mostly given. It is easy to measure and most boats are similar so it kind of works. But when boats do not conform no one number is good. Here I compare my boat and Perrys boat. My boat is 2 meter longer nearly 21 feet Perrys 14 fe...

Same as yesterday plus fumed silica.

Today is same as yesterday. Added is fumed silica as one person asked what I use for fillet. I mix it with NM-epoxy. It works well. Below is from Wikipedia: Fumed silica, also known as pyrogenic silica because it is produced in a flame, consists of microscopic droplets of amorphous silica fused into...

Doing subdivisions. Nothing special.

Now comes a period of routine work. The accomondation is repeat. Today 4 subdivisions are tacked into position. More is to come. I have laminated one sheet of H 200 Divinycell 20 mm on its two sides with NM-epoxy and 450 gram 45°X45° glassfibre. I think this will be enough for 4 more subdivisions bu...

Making the plastic jerry cans fit.

Changing my route makes it advisable that I also change my boat. The much shorter route via Cape Horn means that I now can carry fruit. To create a place to put the fruit I have made the foot end of my bed more narrow. Before it was 80 cm vide, now it is 60 cm vide. Ample place for just myself. The ...

A question to my viewers

A question to my viewers. It is about twin keel craft taking the ground and antifouling. When a twin keeled craft takes the ground. It will rest on its keels. Thats the idea. But the keels like the part of the boat below the waterline is painted with antifouling. To my thinking the paint that gets r...

After much deliberation water quantity is now decided to 111 liter. 18 X 5.5 and 12 one liter

111 liter water is more than I need. But thats OK. It is redundancy. I the unlikely event af a mishap. From the start the Idea was that the side panels in the sleeping room should be parallel. 80 cm vide at head, 80 cm vide at feet. But now with the change of plan, no NZ, Chile instead via Cape Hor...

Transfering water from jerrycan to bottle with no spilling even in stormy weather.

This is the method I use to transfer water from jerrycan to bottle. I will have 12 or maybe 18 green nomally 5 lite jerrycans. The same type NM-epoxy use for the resin. The are of good quality approved for dangerous goods. To transfereing the water without spilling I made a little gadget. I made an ...

Subdivisions and preparing for the screws that will secure the seat hatch

Mainly today I have worked on preparing for the two screws that is going to hold the hatch in the dining room.
