The first leg of the voyage to the Atlantis 2 seamount takes the Marie Tharp from Annapolis to Woods Hole on Cape Cod. It's a shakedown trip where the crew get to know each other and the boat. For me, as the 1st Mate, it has been a great challenge to not only sail a much bigger boat but also to...
A quick little shakedown cruise overnight to Yorktown, 100 miles south on the Chesapeake Bay. We are now going to test some science gear before heading offshore to Woods Hole Massachusetts.

Time to make the cockpit ready for paint. Last fall I ripped all the wood deck out as it was leaking but I ran out of time to finish the job, the time is now!! Love busting out these projects before heading out on the next adventure. Just sharing and not intended for instruction, I'm not an ...

Today I sit down with my new friend, John. We met at my presentation and quickly found out that he was preparing his Pacific Seacraft for a Caribbean trip this winter, and he was only two slips away from the boat I was living on. Crazy ow small the yachting community really is! He started out as ...

Mid Ocean sailing at its finest! Solid winds and full sails flying. The following swell gives us a nice push and these are some of my favorite sailing conditions offshore.

This show was recorded out at sea while still working through the first few weather systems but before the Knockdown that ended the trip.

This is the first of the series of videos from this last adventure. It took a while to get away from the Gulf of Maine but after 5 long days we did it. The weather was up and down but old Sparrow kept me safe and we continued on into the open ocean. More to come...
