Ep48 Rhumor Anchors In A Boat Graveyard

After a great time in Port Grimaud and using its protection from the strong winds it is time to move.
We wanted to go straight to Cannes but the weather is set against us and that anchorage is going to be exposed to thunder storms and swell so we decide to move an hour along the coast to a little anchorage under the gaze of St Tropez. The information that we found on the anchorage was that the sea floor is not the best for anchoring and that there is a chance that the anchor may drag.
When we get there we find a lovely bay with St Tropez in the back ground. The water is very clear and the sea floor is visible it is made up of sea weed and sandy patches after a bit of searching and 2 failed attempts to anchor we get a good hold. We had also put a small peace of rope with one end connected to the anchor and the other end connected to a float so we could use this to pull the anchor up if it gets stuck on the sea floor called a tripping line. It is a good job we had put the tripping line on because when we swung on the anchor in one direction we were very close to a wreck on the sea floor. Also on the shore we had spotted 3 sailing boats that had run aground we had accidentally anchored Rhumor in a boat grave yard. Even though Rhumor was anchored in a boat grave yard there was lots to do. The girls enjoyed brushing up on there dinghy driving skills back and forth around the anchorage and we had some lovely walks along the coast. St Tropez is walking distance from here and the dinghy can be left safely on the beach next to a jetty. For us the anchorage was protected and seemed safe.
Then we were off again. Join us next time when we head to Theoule-sur-Mer.
Thanks for watching from the crew of Rhumor.
