Ep50 Cannes Just before the film festival

After spending some time at Theoule sur Mar we have a short sail across the bay to Cannes just in time to see them setting up for the famous Cannes Film Festival. The anchorage here is quite exposed. The islands to the south protect from the south south east but the shape of the bay funnels the waves in from the south through to south west and with the traffic from the two marinas there is quite a lot of chop during the day.
After getting our shopping and the washing sorted it was on to looking around this beautiful city. There was a lot going on in the city, that normally attracts a lot of people but because the Festival was just about to start, it was very busy- trades people and famous people all working towards the start day which was the day after we filmed.
We didn’t spend long in Cannes and after two days we were on our way again this time to the beautiful islands of Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat were there is an under water art installation of faces and heads. It is a very interesting place but the water was cold so wet suits are a must if you want to look around for some time. Then it was back to the boat and after some lunch we were back on our way to Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. (where David & Victoria spent their time on their honeymoon)
