Ep42 Boat jobs Getting ready for season two

Ep42 We leave the kids and dog in England and drive down to Spain where Rhumor has been waiting for us over winter.
The drive is not an easy one. As soon as Claire set off she was straight in to car problems= first it was a heatshield on the exhaust and then it was the tyre pressures. I was working in Birmingham and could only talk to her on the phone, I felt helpless. Claire is a trooper and she had soon kicked the problems into touch. She was running about 30 min behind when she picked me up but we still had enough time to catch the ferry.
The road down was clear and we even made some time up, which is always nice. Once on the ferry it was time to rest, ready for the 6 hour drive to Damazan, France. The ferry arrived in Saint Malo early and we got to Damazan with no problems. That couldn’t be said for the hotel, after checking in we went for a nice walk along the river and then a quick drive to find some food as the restaurant in the hotel was closed. We found a pizza shop and filled our boots. Then it was straight to the hotel for an early night ready for the drive the next day. The only thing was that we couldn’t get in to the hotel, the doors were all locked. It was 19.30 odd. I could understand had it been 0200 in the morning but not 19.30. after much trying to get in and calls. We found a very helpful lady from the bakery around the corner, she managed to call someone and they gave us a code to open the door nightmare over.
The next day it was over the Pyrenees Mountains to Roda de Bara.
The next day it was straight to work sanding and getting the hole drilled in the hull of the boat to fit a through hole for the water maker. Day 2 painting and getting the sail drive ready for new seals. Day 3 trip to Barcelona for anodes and then back to finish the through hole and sail drive. Day 4 fit anodes and get a place to crane her back into the water.
At the end of the day she was back it the water with the main sail fitted we even had time to wash her.
The next day it was time to say bye to Rhumor again and head back up the road to catch the ferry two days drive away. The trip up to the ferry went smoothly and we were soon floating across the English channel back to Portsmouth. Then it was Claire’s turn to drive. She got us back to Crook in good time where we were reunited with Rebecca, Bethany and Marsha.
Thanks to our parents for keeping them safe while we were away.
Thanks for watching from the crew of Rhumor.
Make our day and subscribe.
