Ep41 To Newcastle

Sorry this Episode was a bit late, we are currently at sea making a passage which you will see in season 2. Hope you are enjoying being with us as we sail the med, keep watching.
Ep41 We have a huge theoretical mountain to climb to get back to Newcastle. With all our bags packed and the dog also in a bag we leave Rhumor for the first time in 6 months to a campsite just down the road, it is very small but is just what we needed to finish the jobs off before we leave.
On the list we have to clean the boat, vac pack the clothes in the boat to stop mould, pickle the water maker and change the oil in the sail drive (aka gearbox). Then it is here we say see you later and off we go up the road in the rented car to another campsite just outside of Barcelona. We had a bit more space in this cabin. we were here for 2 nights so we could get the dog her paper work to go back home and we also got her a Spanish passport which was great.
We were on the move again and this one was the make or break we had to get the dog on an aeroplane (we had been stressing about this moment for a while) in the end it was not a problem but I was convinced it was not going to be easy. We got to the airport with plenty of time just incase we had a problem leaving the rented car there. We got straight through check in without a problem. once on the flight we could relax a little. the girls and dog were a little agitated at the take off but soon settled down. It took a bit of getting used to travelling at 500mph instead of 6 but soon the dog was asleep and the girls were laughing.
The plane landed in a sunny Amsterdam. We collected the bags and went off in a taxi to the hotel. we had booked a 2 night stay just in case the dog couldn’t get on the flight, so now we could kick back and relax. The weather was turning and you could feel winter was in the air or was it that we were used to 30 degree heat.
The Volks hotel was lovely with little trinkets in every corner to make you think about their sayings. it was a great place to spend our last night of the season. The next day we were in a taxi again and this time to the ferry port. Claire got us straight on and when we walked in to our cabin that was it we had made it, all the planning to get back to the UK came to an end. Dropping our bags off our backs not only felt relief from that baggage but the baggage we had been holding onto our shoulders since the start of the plan to get back. We were enjoying again. The ferry left port and by the next morning we could see Hartlepool, then Newcastle piers came in to site. with in no time at all we were hugging our loved ones in the ferry terminal.
Thanks for watching from the crew of Rhumor.
