Rhumor sets off on her 37 hour trip across the formidable Gulf of Lion. We had had a great time in Barcelona but with a storm set to stall us, if we don’t leave we have little choice but to run before the storm.
We leave in cloudy heavy skies and a wind that is coming from in front of us, which slows us down but this proves to be a blessing as during the night a thunder storm passes in front of us and totally misses us.
When the boat crew wakes in the morning we have clear skies and a view of the land. By night fall we are pulling in to our anchorage for the night (Rade de la Badine).
We are awoken early by a switch in the swell so we set off to the north of the bay to a little cove called Rade d’ hyeres which was very picturesque and we had a good time swimming and climbing the coast line but we were still not out of the grasp of the mistral which was building strength in the Gulf of Lion. so we make a hasty retreat and carry on running for the protection of the Golfe de Saint-Tropez.
Thanks for watching from the crew of Rhumor.
