People say it all the time: Sailing is actually ‘Fixing things in Exotic Locations’. This cliché mantra always passes through my mind as I attempt to solve a problem that I’m not qualified to fix. But that’s sailing life! Things break and there’s no magic repair technician there to help you troubleshoot the vast array of issues that inevitably come up on a sailboat.
Fortunately, this time I’m prepared. Our fridge has been dying a slow death and today it finally decides to crap-out. The saving grace: We have 2 cooler sized fridge-freezers on board. That’s right, 2 backups for this exact issue. Now I can procrastinate repairing the fridge and go for a snorkel instead.
Ahhhh, gotta love saving today’s problems for tomorrow. It’s OK, future you will sort it out…one day.
If you’re not interested in Sailboat Issues like our refrigerator dying in the tropics feel free to skip ahead. The drone footage of our stunning anchorage here in Moorea starts at 06:11 then we dive into the best snorkeling we’ve experienced here in French Polynesia.
Before we even leave the shadow of our catamaran we’re free-diving 50 feet down to say hi to a couple of eagle rays, a sting ray and a black-tip shark. The water is cool and crystal clear and the underwater creatures are beautiful. Boat Life here in Moorea is all good!
