The Indian ocean is no joke. It is rough and windy and the 8000+ miles we sailed. last year has taken its toll on Nandji 2. But for the past couple of months, we have been soaking in the stillness, enjoying life with the boat not moving and settling into the charm of a small coastal gem, here in South Africa
The town of Knysna
Most international cruisers making their way around South Africa tend to rush through this notoriously challenging coast line, eager to reach the calmer Atlantic waters and the city of Capetown
Because of that, many sailors skip past Knysna all together, put off by its tricky entrance
But, not us
We made the decision early on to take our time and sail this coast line slowly and treat each stop as a destination in its own right. We had spent years planning to sail to Africa, so what’s the rush!
Though no place has captured our hearts quite like Knysna
From the welcoming locals to having the opportunity to tour the Vision catamaran factory and then test sail freshly launched catamarans multiple times, it has us wondering,
Do we want to be South African? And
Are we catamaran people now? (NO)
Although as winter starts to settle in and the chill sets through the hull, it is time to turn our attention back to Nandji 2 and get her ready for the next big adventure
