Ripping apart a sailing yacht

Will our yacht engine start after not running for 15 years?
In this episode we start tackling some of the rust issues up on the foredeck, we remove the winches to take home for servicing and we try turning over the engine to see if she will start!

She canna take any more captain! She’s gonna blow!

We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, and for the past couple of years we have been looking for a bluewater sailing yacht to take us around the world.

Well we’ve finally found her. Our new sailing yacht is a John Teal designed 38ft Steel Pilothouse Cutter. She has been standing ashore for at least 15 years and now we’re embarking on the huge challenge of refitting her and doing her up ready to go sailing around the world.

Follow along with our journey and help us with any advice and tips you have along the way.
