Departure - Ep. 2 RAN Sailing

We leave Dockan Marina, Malmö, and sail to Skanör in the south of Sweden. Then we sail 24 hours straight to Kiel, Germany with freezing temperatures. Everything on the boat had frozen over the night so before we could set sail we had to pour hot water on the lines and the sails. We enter the Kiel Canal where we are the only sailing boat. After a stop in Rendsburg and Brunsbüttel we pass the locks on the other side and leave the canal for the river Elbe and finish in Cuxhaven, Germany. A good but cold first trip!

We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter, January 2016, and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us.
