FORCED to Sail to TUNISIA! Our Most Anxious Crossing Yet? | S2 - EP10
After 18 months of sailing the Mediterranean, we were forced to leave Europe.
In this episode, we set sail on a 125-nautical-mile, 24-hour offshore passage from Sardinia, Italy to Tunisia, crossing into Africa for the very first time aboard our liveaboard catamaran.
This isn't just another sailing passage. Because our boat is under Temporary Admission (TA), we have to leave the European Union before our 18-month limit expires. If we don't, we could face a huge tax bill and fines. So we point the bow south and begin one of our biggest passages yet.
What starts as a straightforward crossing quickly turns into a challenging adventure. We sail through fog, pitch-black skies with almost zero visibility, seasickness, changing winds, and huge commercial ships as we make our way across the Mediterranean.
Finally, after almost 24 hours at sea, we arrive in Bizerte, Tunisia, where we have to clear customs, deal with the police, and officially check into Africa for the first time.
