Hello friends, this is episode 7 of our journey with Sven Yrvind. Today, we’ll dive into the crucial process of setting up the mold foundation for building a sailing dinghy. Sven emphasizes the importance of getting this right and guides us through every step to ensure accuracy in our builds.
In this episode, we join Sven as he begins preparing the base of the mold. He stresses that precision is essential at this stage and focuses on attaining a right angle for optimal construction. We witness how he expertly marks and secures plywood pieces with appropriate spacing in place.
To ensure correct angles for the mold’s sides, Sven uses a stick to measure distances and marks specific points on each piece. With meticulous attention to detail, he then secures these components using strings as guides.
Sven reviews the mold’s structure and notes that all elements, except for a small front piece, are in place. He assures us that this minor gap will not compromise the integrity of the project.
In anticipation of installing the stem and amidships sections, Sven carefully positions a string in the center. This technique helps ensure perfect alignment as he progresses with future steps.
Join us next time to learn more about constructing this sailing dinghy. Stay tuned for expert tips on stem and amidships installations, and don’t forget that every detail matters when creating a sea-worthy vessel.
