Welcome aboard SV Nakama, We are Slim & Soph a young Aussie couple tryna get by living aboard our tiny retro sailboat with our cat Chilli. We sail the Australian coastline whilst attending university online and take you with us. After putting study on the back burner for years as we didn’t want to sacrifice adventure, we thought why not have both? Fed up with the outrageous rental prices in our hometown, the idea of doing it afloat came to mind. We figured we could scrape by on our tight student budget if we stopped paying way too much rent and lived minimally on the ocean, whilst continuing our passion for adventure. The plan for now, is to keep sailing onwards, keeping Australia to our left and once we're done doing that...Who knows. Our mission is to prove that anyone can do it, you don’t need the fanciest boat or a squillion bucks, just a whole lot of ambition and a willingness to make mistakes and learn. We wake again at Lady Musgrave Island and jump straight into the water for a snorkel. It’s windy out in the lagoon so we escape it by going underwater and exploring the island. Soph gets stung by something weird. We have dinner on our good friend Myles boat with some new friends we met and we share a Mackerel we were given by some more fortunate fishermen. This place is so good we are left wondering how we will ever leave… Oh never mind that, the wind decides to blow gale overnight and we can’t wait to escape in the morning… We brave the wind and make a dash when the sun has risen and the tide has dropped, back out through the narrow coral entrance (now an exit) and into deep water. We throw in a reef and hoon out away from the island to head to safer waters and our next destination.
