Welcome aboard SV Nakama, We are Slim & Soph a young Aussie couple tryna get by living aboard our tiny retro sailboat with our cat Chilli. We sail the Australian coastline whilst attending university online and take you with us. After putting study on the back burner for years as we didnāt want to sacrifice adventure, we thought why not have both? Fed up with the outrageous rental prices in our hometown, the idea of doing it afloat came to mind. We figured we could scrape by on our tight student budget if we stopped paying way too much rent and lived minimally on the ocean, whilst continuing our passion for adventure. The plan for now, is to keep sailing onwards, keeping Australia to our left and once we're done doing that...Who knows. Our mission is to prove that anyone can do it, you donāt need the fanciest boat or a squillion bucks, just a whole lot of ambition and a willingness to make mistakes and learn. The owner of Portland Roads heard we’d never sailed aboard a catamaran before, luckily he had a spare one and invited us aboard. We grab Liv and head out to the islands for a long weekend of snorkelling, sailing and hiking. We’re feeling pretty spoilt enjoying the luxuries like coffee machines and an ice maker that we’re not used to on Nakama. Not to mention we all have our own double bed with an ensuite. living on a luxury catamaran in the Whitsundays is certainly something we could all get used to pretty easy.
