40 nautical miles off the coast of Western Australia, in the Indian Ocean lies the Montebello Islands. A coral-fringed archipelago of 174 islands, that most Aussies don’t even know exists and even less commonly known is that the Australian government signed off on the British testing a bunch of nukes out here during the Cold War. However, decades later the Montebello Islands have transformed from a place of devastation to a haven for biodiversity and now, holds the best spearfishing/ diving we have ever experienced.
