Seriously what a crazy year it has been, we started out in Coffs Harbour with engine breakdowns, after giving the boat some much-needed attention we set off on our first year cruising as full-time uni students. We sat locked inside in floods, a lot. Soph broke her ankle and needed surgery which put us on hold, but as soon as we could, we were off again, making it to reef, islands and new coastline. Finally flying into the Whitsundays, like we were transported to a Canadian Tahiti crossed with the Bahamas, well for not having been to any of those places we can only imagine. And basically, here we are now…Chance Bay. Welcome to Slims bush mechanics warehouse, we are starting this week off by trying to fix the bloody outboard…we also get an Uber to shore for sundowners..I know I didn’t think Uber had made it to the islands yet but apparently, they have…After a morning dive, we find ourselves on a hand-built motorboat for coffee and cake BUT ALSO we got to help offload the mountain loads of plastics they had collected to the Eco-Barge, we were pretty damn gobsmacked by how much they managed to find in the local area, good on you guys. It’s our last day of uni break and we plan to make the most of it, we trek across the hill to Whitehaven Beach for a swim and then jump back on Nakama and potter around the islands looking for another swim. Hill Inlet just looked WAY too good…It’s an emotional ending to not only our uni break but also the cruising season…we lap up the views of Hill Inlet and the crystal clear waters before heading back to probably our favourite anchorage in the Whitsundays….what a crazy year it has been.
