Sailing to Mexico | Can We Find Peace In San Francisco Bay?

Ahoy and welcome back to Sailing Sea Dream of Clyde! In this one, we pick up where we left off in downtown San Francisco at the cool anchorage called Aquatic Park. While we’re having breakfast, the Hawaiian voyaging canoe, Hokule’a’s, pulls into the bay. This sailing canoe is doing a voyage around the Pacific Rim using celestial navigation, with many stops throughout the west coast of North America and beyond with a primary goal of strengthening traditional Hawaiian cultural practices. Kat and I head ashore to check out the welcoming festivities for Hokule’a’s, and then carry on to take of laundry.

The next day, we decide to go on a city bus adventure to check out more of San Francisco, such as the famous Haight and Ashbury area and Chinatown. We quickly become weary of the noises and hectic energy of the city, so at sunset, we make a break for it across the bay to Angel Island. The next day, I forget to bring the camera ashore, so check out the links before of other sailors videos of their time on the island! We continue on to Paradise Cove, where we spend a few days before getting sick of the ferry wakes and head for the Berkeley Yacht Club, enjoying a fun fast sail in the process!

We check out Berkeley, do some hiking above town, and then a few days later head back to Aquatic Park to stage for heading back into the open Pacific Ocean!
