Ahoy sailors and sailing enthusiasts! It has been a little while since my last video, and may be a little while before the next, but here is a quick one from late this spring when my friends Taryn and Logan from @WaywardLifeSailing joined me aboard Sea Dream of Clyde for a night out at anchor. We set sail on a beautiful breezy day from my slip in Victoria Harbour, then headed out into the Strait of Juan De Fuca. We quickly had to reef sails as strong gusty winds came barreling off the land. As the wind was NW, the fetch was small, so the sailing was very fast with only short waves.

After tacking out past the Discovery Islands and almost to the USA-Canada Border, we managed to sail on to anchor without using the engine at all. It was a very peaceful night at anchor in the urban anchorage of Cadboro Bay near the University of Victoria.

The next morning was pleasant and warm, with a nice NW breeze still blowing. We left under sail alone, again not needing the engine only to find flukey winds, which left us drifting about for awhile. Eventually, a breeze kicked up and brought us back to Victoria Harbour.

Thanks for watching, and be sure to check out The Wayward Life! They make great videos of sailing throughout the Salish Sea, and beyond. Currently, Taryn and Logan are documenting the extensive work they are performing on their Van De Stadt Norman 40.

Thank you Taryn and Logan for the additional footage!
