As the infamous Mara'amu winds arrived, we hunkered down in the safest corner of the atoll we could find, hoping that a sandy beach and some palm trees would be enough to keep us safe as a Force 10 storm rolled over the top of us for ten days. It is a privilege to sail in this part of the world, but that doesn't mean it's always easy and with no way out of the pass we were trapped inside a lagoon until the weather died down.

Come with us as we trek over to the ocean side of the reef to see how the conditions compare in the wilds of the Pacific Ocean to the protected shallow waters inside the atoll.....but we can't promise we won't get lost along the way!
