Sailing across the Indian Ocean from West Sumatra, Indonesia to Mauritius https://www.sailingnandji.com
After being at sea for over a week and now in the strong trade winds for multiple days, our comfort levels with our surroundings have settled.
Before going to sea on any passage, there are always nerves and thoughts of the what if… Although now being out here in the middle of the Indian Ocean and experiencing the stronger winds and the swell of the ocean, it feels relaxing, and it is easy for time to simply disappear as we have now found our routine.
We are doing 2 hour watches which gives us all a decent amount of time to sleep whilst also allowing each other some alone time.
Our sail changes are based around watch change over, with the main sail going up and down between 2nd and 3rd reef as to maximise those daytime speeds. There is no need for anymore sail in these conditions.
Come the afternoon, we are all awake and can hang out and enjoy Nandji 2 doing what she does best! Making miles west towards African lands
