With the ladies opting to sit out our upcoming passage across the voicterous southern Indian Ocean, I got a crew of lads onboard to help with the trip.
As we are all keen surfers and these lads don’t have a clue about sailing, first we headed out to the Mentawai islands to familiarise everyone with Nandji 2.
I figure, if we get everyone into some waves then the lads will be happy to endure what the Indian Ocean is going to throw at us.
Our first few days in the islands have been magical but before leaving this area for good, I have a couple places I want to visit first. If we can get moving as once again, th engine doesn't work...
The difference of having a crew of lads onboard rather than the family, means that these far out islands that take over night to reach, only to enjoy them for a couple of hours become feasible. The more overnight passages we complete now, is vital in gaining more experience for the crew whilst it is calm.
The final stop off before making clearance out of Indonesia is a place us as a family travelled to a couple of years ago, a bucket list destination that will be the perfect farewell to Indonesia and close the chapter of our time in Asia. A far out atoll only accessible by boat.
