Welcome back aboard Moor R & R for this weeks Adventure! Episode 35
Our journey north towards Cape Gloucester takes an unexpected turn when our entire electrical system suddenly shuts down. We lose everything onboard, leaving us with no power and even no working anchor winch!
After picking up a mooring buoy, we begin troubleshooting every possible cause. We reset the system, check connections, and try everything we can think of—but nothing seems to work. Just when we finally manage to bring the electrical system back to life, another problem appears... our generator refuses to run!
With the generator pump motor seized, we need a replacement as quickly as possible. Luckily, one of our buddy boats is heading off from Airlie Beach the very next day and kindly picks up the new pump for us. Sometimes the cruising community really comes through!
With our batteries dropping to just 38% and relying solely on solar power, we decide to sail to Bowen to meet our friends and hopefully get everything working again. In Bowen, we anchor in the beautiful Queens Bay, where the massive granite boulders lining the beach make for an incredible backdrop. It's amazing to see how different this coastline is from the Whitsundays.
Once our friends arrive with the replacement pump, it's time to get our hands dirty, reinstall the new motor, and see if we can finally bring the generator back to life.
Will we get everything working before continuing our journey north? You'll have to watch to find out!
Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!!
