I never thought dealing with a hole in the boat could be so satisfying.
This week was a true test of DIY with your spouse. We had to coordinate two separate jobs while trying to talk to each other through the hull of the boat and let me tell you that proved to be a challenge. But we did it, and we are more in love with our Honu knowing how safe she is and that all of our exterior holes can now be plugged.
There was a new vocabulary, sorry second language, that we had to learn as well. The “thingy” and “do-hicky” weren’t going to cut it anymore. If we wanted to get this project done and in an effective manner we had to learn how to communicate what we needed correctly. This might have been a bit harder on my part, but I’m not admitting anything.
I love that we were able to come together as a couple. Not just a sailing couple but a regular old couple and work together to get this job done. If you have never had the pleasure before I would highly recommend replacing all your sea cocks, through hulls and plumbing. It is 100% eye opening, exhausting and truly exhilarating experience to know your spaceship is secure.
