Hi and welcome, we are John and Sharon a mid 50's retired couple who brought a boat to live on and are currently sailing in the mediterranean.
This week on 23 Pioneer, we kick things off exploring the stunning luxury marina of Porto Montenegro before the Bay of Kotor throws everything it has at us — torrential rain, gusts up to 40–50 knots, a dragging anchor, and a fishing net wrapped around the chain that sends John overboard in 30 knots of wind to cut it free! After anchoring five times in one day on hard compacted mud, we finally find shelter behind the island and get some well-earned rest. But the best part of the week? Our friends Marcus, Terry and Mark join us aboard for birthday celebrations, anchorage lunches, swimming in the bay, and soaking up everything the beautiful Bay of Kotor has to offer. John also squeezes in a step-by-step guide on how to tie a proper eye splice — beer in hand, naturally. Real catamaran life in one of the most dramatic and beautiful sailing destinations in the Mediterranean.

Midlife sailing adventure | Retired couple living on a catamaran | Full-time liveaboard sailing We’re John & Sha, a retired couple in our mid-50s preparing to move aboard our catamaran this April. After retiring from full-time careers, we’re transitioning to full-time liveaboard sailing and documenting the entire journey. Right now, we’re sailing the Ionian in Greece. Stunning anchorages, pretty fishing villages and gusty winds are all on the agenda here. In the near future we will head off to Albania and Montenegro. From catamaran living and liveaboard life to sailing adventures, slow travel, and going where the wind takes us — this is our next chapter.
