Had to do maintenance on my Mercury 2.5 hp outboard motor.
This was the simplest way to make a stand and test tank.
It only works with small engines.
For a bigger engine add a plywood pad on both ends and screw though it sandwiching the garbage can for added strenght.

They will hold strong. Obviously they will surface rust, but still better than the plastic clips that will become brittle. Once they are not in service (after years) they can be recycled.
