We broke the boom! First major setback but probably not the last. In this episode we spend a couple of days in Camariñas in Galicia, Spain and then we sail towards Lisbon, Portugal but don’t get very far. We broach with the boat outside Cape Finisterre and get an accidental jib on the Hoyt boom and sadly it brakes. Therefore we end up in Baiona and are stuck here for repairs.
As we upload this we’ve been in Baiona for a week and are waiting for the new rigging parts to arrive and to install them.
We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a one-off aluminium built Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us.
