Engine FAILURE, TOWED in, EXPIRED visas, NO money and COLD ! Ep 197
Just as we were about to depart on a complicated passage from New Zealand to Tonga, we discover something is seriously wrong with our engine. Specifically the shaft does not seem to be turning the propellor around. Without the ability to drive the boat forward, we had to get towed into the marina and then faced the huge task of finding the spares and a way to repair this fault. We have commitments to be in Fiji for a wedding but weather windows and fellow sailors keep passing us by.
The weather gets colder, our visa run out and the stress intensifies.
However, we find solace in the beautiful walks around this beautiful place in the bay of Islands in New Zealand.

We're a UK family who have saved over many years to live the dream of travelling the world with our kids. We sold our belongings, closed our business and rented our house to buy a 20 year old sailboat . We want to show the kids that there is a bigger world out there and to appreciate the simple things in life, things that you find in the sea, the woods, up mountains, along the beach , the sky and the stars.
