The weather improves a little, so we decide to go snorkelling on the reef. The currents are very strong, and we change our minds and do a drift snorkel instead.

The weather sets in, and the anchorage inside Mermaid Reef is very rolly. With no good weather forecast, we decide to leave the reef and make a beeline for Darwin. It’s going to be about a 5-6 day passage.

We head off and end up with virtually no wind the whole way, so we motor and motor.

Just as we are very close to Darwin, a massive storm hits us in the middle of the night, and we battle to keep Nutshell safe.

After a long passage of motoring, we finally end up in Darwin, where we tuck Nutshell up, nice and safe, to leave her for the cyclone season while we head south to Perth to fill the cruising fund ready for our next sailing adventure.

Thanks for watching.

Until next time…

Wendy and Magnus
