Ep 211 | A New Roof Top Tent and the Start of Our Quest for Beer, Across Australia Road Trip

With the announcement of the Western Australian borders opening, Magnus quickly booked a flight for the both of us to go over to Perth to catch up with family.

We flew down to Brisbane for a couple of days to see our three daughters, then took a flight over to Perth which had been in lockdown for a long, long time.

But, we aren’t going to fly back. Instead the plan is to drive a car back. A pretty monumental task when you consider that Perth to Airlie Beach is about 8,500 kms if you go across the top. We decided that going across the top would be the best bet and our best chance of making it through the two borders that we would need to cross to get back home. It’s a big country and this was a very long route to take, but a safe one.

We also have a quest for the road trip. We will be visiting every brewery north of the Tropic of Capricorn, on our way back to Airlie Beach, except Cairns.

This is the beginning of our journey.

It made sense to purchase a cheap roof top tent for the trip, cheaper than motels, so we bought an Adventure Kings roof top tent. It was handy to have as it gave us a good testing platform for the you beaut roof top tent that Magnus wants to build.

We practised our ‘beer quest’ by popping into a brewery in Cannington. Not strictly part of our beer quest ‘rules’, but it was lovely to go to a brewery anyway. Why not!

See you all next week.

Thanks for watching and keep safe and well everyone.

Wendy and Magnus
