Wendy makes a start on Nutshell’s dodger by working out how it is put together and how she can fix it, MacGgyver style, with existing materials.
The dodger got a bashing when we crossed the Pacific and much of it was slashed. It will be a while before I get it all finished, but this episode shows the start of the repair process.
Wendy also begins to fix the small holes and stitching on the headsail.
Magnus hits the kitchen and prepares a ton of chicken curry to be canned for our trip to the Kimberley. After the initial canning tests, we now know that it is possibly better to cook the food and remove excess liquid so more will fit into the jars. We can also add back the moisture when we open them and heat the meals up.
We take Nutshell out on her first little outing to the Airlie Beach jetty, to test the gearbox installation and fill up with much needed water.
