Wahine Is Sailing to Mexico... Without Me

Sailors have an old saying:

"The two happiest days in a sailor's life are the day he buys a boat and the day he sells it." Having recently passed Wahine on to my close friend Mitsu Kume, I now understand why. In fact, I'm doubly happy. Not simply because I'm relieved of the responsibilities of ownership, but because Wahine's journey is far from over.

Next year, she'll sail from Japan to Mexico, following the extraordinary migration route of the loggerhead turtles as part of Pacific Solo 2. Mitsu's expedition, following the Turtle Highway to Mexico, will support sea turtle research through his NPO, Turtle Crew. https://turtle-crew.com/

As for me, my own journey continues. I'll continue traveling deeper into Japan, exploring the country's longevity hotspots and continuing my research into healthy aging, community, and purpose. https://japansolo.substack.com/

And yes... I'll be replacing Wahine with something smaller, more nimble, and far better suited to this next chapter. I'll reveal more next month.

One chapter closes. Another begins.
