Life Aboard SV Blue Moon
SV Blue Moon, a 1978 Catalina 30, is the vessel that carries their dreams on the open sea. Powered by a Universal M25 Diesel engine, this sailboat became their home in the spring of 2020. Countless hours of labor were invested in transforming it into a comfortable live-aboard space. Now, it’s a cozy sanctuary for Jonas and Gillian, and they’re absolutely loving it.
Starting in the fall of 2020, this intrepid couple has been living aboard SV Blue Moon in the picturesque setting of Victoria, BC. Their ability to work, study, and embrace the beauty of boat life is a testament to their adaptability. Despite being relatively new to this lifestyle, Jonas and Gillian already overcome its unique challenges. From optimizing the use of their small living space to finding ways to enjoy it to the fullest, they’re eager to share their insights.

Gillian is nearing the completion of her undergraduate degree in Biology and Environmental Studies, while Jonas maintains a full-time position with the BC Wildfire Service.
