BOAT LIFE: 12 THINGS to think about BEFORE SAILING AWAY from land

After living “boat life” for over 3 years, I, Brandy, get a chance to go back to the states and remember what “land life” was all about. After being gone for over a month, I return back to the boat. Beau and I start talking about what IS the difference REALLY between living on the boat vs living on land.

When we left behind land over 3 years ago, we didn’t know how to sail and we really didn’t know if we were even going to like sailing. Much less living on our boat full time, while cruising unknown areas, not knowing anyone around. How were we going to make friends? Get groceries? What about trying to get mail to our boat? What about laundry, bucket laundry, what is that? We had so much to think about and we have learned a ton over the years of sailing.

We talk about all the good of sailing, which spoiler alert, makes ALL the hassles well worth it. We hope you enjoy our experiences and what it’s like to hop on a boat, without know what we were doing and learning along the way. How we have learned to adjust to boat life after living on land, well for our WHOLE LIVES.

Who are we?

We’re Beau and Brandy. In January 2016, we bought a beat up old boat with a seized engine, self converted her into an all electric sailboat and named her Saoirse. We never had sailed before, but we KNEW that this was going to be the life for us. After tons of work in a dusty boat yard, we untied the lines in November 2018 and sailed away. Still not knowing how to actually sail. But we were ready to learn.

We wanted to create a living journal of our lives so we started this channel to document our #travels and #sailing adventures. We have been sailing for over 3 years now and we don’t have any thoughts of heading back to land life anytime soon. xoxo.
