Here is episode 15 of Wicked Salty! In this episode we have our first grounding experience on parity, and for my life for that matter. It was a soft grounding, we probably touched bottom a total of 3 times this entire video! And believe me it won't be our last.... We also met up with ...
I've run the cable needed to get shorepower to a bunch of outlets in the boat. I've also made a prototype for a gangplank that will allow my dog to get on and off the boat without me lifting him. I had to cut this video a bit short as one of the liveaboards in Skive had invited me over to ...
Here is a look at the Transport Canada required safety equipment for my vessel. Of course I have done a few other things and have a few other items on board to make it safer, but this is the minimum.

Here is episode 14 of Wicked Salty! In this episode we fly down the East River in New York City. This was one of the most scenic parts of the trip thus far with so much action going on in the city. Helicopters, ferries, ships, tugs, barges you name it. Just a typical day in New York!
Enjoy...
A stopper knot is a common thing to do for your lines, but putting the knot too close to the end of the line can make it difficult to get the load off our out from being jammed in a block. Take a look at the knots I used and where I put them on the lines.

Here is episode 13 of Wicked Salty! In this episode we cruised through all of Long Island Sound. We made a few stops, anchoring every night until we reached Port Washington where we picked up a mooring for free. At this point we were really starting to get the hang of everything but still ...
This video explains why I moved my boat to another marina. It's all about my hopes and dreams for the future. I want to give living aboard a try. If I can handle living aboard I'll be able to save up money to go cruising for an extended period of time.

I had the question recently regarding my internet and cable on the boat. Well as a full time live-aboard it is nice to have my own internet and the marina I am at provides the cable.
Here is a quick video of how I have it all hooked up and how I am able to watch live TV without actually having t...
While we were rowing the dinghy against the current in the Hudson River our oarlock broke. With each of us paddling an oar, we barely made it to the marina dock. There were no stores in Manhattan with oar locks in stock, but we did have spares on Paragon. We just had to get back to Paragon.

Here is episode 12 of Wicked Salty! In this episode we set out of Newport Harbor to reach our next destination of Stonington, Connecticut. We get a very pleasant surprise of spotting some dolphins in the distance so we caught up to them, to have them swim with our boat. We also saw a few s...

Here is episode 10 of Wicked Salty! My apologies in advance for the wind noise, we are trying to fix the shakiness and wind noise, but keep in mind this footage was shot before the solutions were made. In this episode we recover from our beating out in the open ocean. After retreating into...
While I was in Ganges I had noticed the many interesting and sometimes surprising ways that boats are tied to the dock. One 46 sailboat had one line which was that yellow 3 strand floating braided line that deteriorates quite badly when exposed to sunlight!
Seeing all boats and the various ways t...

KARL & me are heading east along the coast towards Colombia, stopping here and there at some more remote Kuna villages. Savouring the freshest seafood and dealing with the so called "culo de pollos" (squalls) that blow through here every week.

Today I left my marina in Richmond and travelled down the Fraser River, across the Straight of Georgia, through Active Pass and finally to Ganges which is located on Saltspring Island.
Although the forecast was for strong Easterly winds, it was more of a South East wind. I sailed close hauled fr...
Going for a cruise always means a few things to get ready before the trip so here is a quick look at how I prepared the boat before I sailed off to Ganges over on Saltspring Island.
