Unforgettable Moments in Maupiti | Episode 261
Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail, on this weeks episode you will find us anchored in the beautiful island of Maupiti, roughly 30 miles from Bora Bora. Here, we sit back and reset ourselves while reflecting on the last couple years we have spent here in French Polynesia.
Just before we leave, we enjoy one more final day in Maupiti and climb to what we have been told as the most beautiful hike in all of French Polynesia. We prepare the boat for a rough departure out of the pass and take some supplies to a neighboring island which includes one of the locals who will be returning his island to his family of Maupiha'a.

As our time in French Polynesia comes to an end, we decide to make a final stop on the breathtaking island of Maupiti. In this episode, we relish every last moment with a series of exhilarating activities and adventures.
The Hike Up Mount Meo
Knowing that our time in paradise is dwindling, we take advantage of our remaining 24 hours on Maupiti by embarking on the challenging hike up Mount Meo. This strenuous yet rewarding climb offers spectacular views of Bora Bora and neighboring islands.
The Shipwreck Discovery
Our adventures do not go unnoticed. As we explore various areas around Maupiti, we come across an intriguing shipwreck. While the cause and details behind the wreck remain a mystery, it adds a touch of excitement to our time spent on this island.
Sailing Supplies and Local Connections
Not only do we immerse ourselves in local culture through hiking and exploring, but we also help out the community. We come into contact with a local family residing on a neighboring island who urgently needs supplies. By delivering essentials like a wheelbarrow and sodas to this deserving family, we deepen our connection to Maupiti’s inhabitants.
Our Final Night Sailing
As the sun sets on what has been an incredible adventure-filled day, we prepare for one final challenge. The anticipation of a night sail and dealing with the unpredictable elements creates a sense of camaraderie among us. Although nerves are high – especially for my partner, who does not possess any sailing experience – our seasoned sailor Marcelo helps us navigate through the treacherous pass during peak swell.
In this heart-pounding episode, we take on numerous challenges, from hiking a strenuous mountain to navigating uncharted waters under the cover of night. Our bond as a crew grows stronger with each trial faced, making this journey truly unforgettable. As we bid farewell to Maupiti, we are filled with cherished memories that will last us throughout our future voyages.
