Small Crack, Big Boat Job - An Insurance Dilemma

Welcome back to Trinidad, our catamaran and a new round of boat work. This week we're throwing ourselves into a big job to solve a small problem.
During our insurance survey, cracks in the weld that hold the bushings in place for the cross bar were deemed unfit for purpose. Although these cracks predate the ownership of our floating home, this time the message was clear no repair no insurance. It's an insurance dilemma. To repair the weld we need to remove the forestay and disconnect the crossbeam. A big job to correct a small problem. When you look at the numbers it leaves us questioning, is the peace of mind this brings worth the price?
