ROBBED AGAIN! and a visit to PRISON – OUR FINAL DAYS SAILING SOUTH AFRICA
We’re back aboard in spectacular, windswept Hout Bay, Cape Town, wrapping up our sailing adventure through South Africa with joy, chaos, and some bittersweet goodbyes.
Rob returns from New Zealand, after an emotional, once in a lifetime moment for a father halfway around the world – Watching our eldest son Finn win gold in the national premier single sculls.
Meanwhile, back in Cape Town, we visit Pollsmoor prison to support an inspiring inmate rehabilitation program – while across town heartbreak strikes again. Our son Declan who has already been robbed of his phone in Durban, is scammed out of a reasonable amount of money. Tough lessons for a big-hearted young man, just trying to do some good.
With our Atlantic Ocean crossing looming, we’re racing against time to replace our standing rigging – a job made more stressful by delays, dwindling visas, and wild Cape winds.
Despite the setbacks, Cape Town has captured our hearts – with its dramatic mountains, vibrant culture, and unforgettable scenery. Two weeks simply isn’t enough.
