Welcome to the remote and breathtaking Cocos Keeling Islands — one of the most unique places I have visited during my solo circumnavigation.
After arriving at this beautiful coral atoll, I explore the islands both above and below the water. I snorkel with magnificent manta rays, an unforgettable encounter with these gentle giants in crystal-clear tropical waters.
On Direction Island, I experience the simple pleasures of island life: taking a refreshing outdoor shower from the huge communal water tank while surrounded by one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.
I go on the dinghy with friends across the lagoon to Home Island, where I discover the fascinating Oceania Hotel and learn more about this remote island community.
From there, I catch the ferry to West Island, where I find one of the most unusual golf courses in the world — a course that crosses the runway of the island’s airport!
