Hello Friends,

On this episode we travel back in time a bit to May of 2018 when I bought my “new to me” gimbaled alcohol stove then we snap back to the present time and get to work on designing and building the closure for the stove.

Triteia came with a fixed alcohol stove mounted in the galley. While alcohol is a much slower burning fuel than propane it has a couple of advantages. First and foremost its not explosive, this is my main reason for sticking with alcohol. The other main reason for me is that I am outfitting our boat to sail all around the world and I have seen a lot of videos of cruisers struggles to get propane in far flung places.

I finally found the time to get started on installing the oven so this episode shows my process of making a template and cutting the pieces out of plywood that will later be laminated, trimmed out in teak and installed in the galley.

I hope everyone is having a good winter catching up on boat projects like myself or at least catching up on reading sailing books while you wait for your sailing season to start!

Fair Winds,
Sailor James
