Join Sailing SV CUBA on an epic journey as they sail to the Bahamas, battling seasickness and challenging weather conditions. Starting from Aruba, they encounter unexpected obstacles, including strong winds and currents, making their passage arduous.
Setting sail from Aruba, the crew faces initial confusion with customs paperwork, a consequence of their previous plans to head to Panama. However, they adapt swiftly, setting their course for the Bahamas.
“We’re about 5 hours in now and then Nick and I are really, really sick,” shares one crew member.
They encounter rough weather conditions, with waves much larger than forecasted, leading to a tense and challenging journey through the night.
Despite the initial challenges, the crew finds solace in the serenity of the open ocean, marveling at the vastness of the sea and the beauty of the night sky.
“This is the fifth night since we left Aruba, and the conditions couldn’t be better,” notes one crew member.
As they sail toward Nassau Island, they navigate carefully, ensuring a safe passage through the Windward Passage.
As they approach Haiti, the crew encounters obstacles with wind, waves, and currents, causing significant delays in their journey.
“We’ve been struggling now for the past 8 hours,” shares a crew member. “It is very difficult.”
Despite the challenges, they persevere, eventually making it through and continuing toward their destination.
After a grueling passage of 600 nautical miles, the crew finally arrives in the Bahamas, greeted by clear waters and a sense of accomplishment.
“Here we are after 6 days,” exclaims one crew member. “We made it, man!”
They complete the check-in process smoothly, relieved to have successfully reached their destination.
Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, the crew of Sailing SV CUBA demonstrates resilience, teamwork, and determination, ultimately achieving their goal of sailing to the Bahamas.
“We couldn’t have done it without the best crew anybody could ever hope for,” expresses one crew member.
