The Pacific Ocean doesn’t play games — and this episode [Ep187] proves it. After leaving the remote atoll of Tongareva in the northern Cook Islands, disaster struck when our brand-new spinnaker ripped underway. Forced to stop for urgent repairs, we found ourselves racing against the clock, with storms on the horizon and no way to make fresh drinking water.

From here, we push 500 miles across open ocean — chasing safety, battling the elements, and sailing further off the beaten path than ever before. 🌊

⸻

🌍 In This Episode:
• ⛵ Real-life challenges of sailing the Pacific — gear failure, weather windows, and water shortages.
• 🏝 Leaving the untouched paradise of Tongareva, Cook Islands.
• ⚓ Facing one of the toughest passages yet — with no safe harbors until we make landfall.
• 💭 Reflections on life at sea and why the remote Pacific still calls to adventurers like us.

⸻

Could we LIVE HERE? (Hidden Fiji caves!)

In all our travels, we have always loved exploring new places and visiting islands that are hardly touched by tourism. We've been incredibly lucky to have experienced some wonderful places around the world but this island is a bit different. Have we actually found our new home? Should we think ...

WE DON’T KNOW what’s next!

Life on a boat always throws us surprises - sometimes we make plans, and sometimes they get thrown back in our faces. We spent weeks sailing against the trade winds to reach the furthest corner of the remote Lau islands in Fiji and had an absolute blast exploring the villages and beaches we discover...

Our BOAT just got BIGGER!

We are sailing on a tight budget after our huge refit earlier this year and so when it came to transforming the cockpit of our Leopard catamaran, we had to get a little creative. I wanted to replace all our cushions and Iain wanted to transform our table, but we don't have the thousands of doll...

HUGE MILESTONE! (I’ve been waiting for this day!)

Some days are special - and this is one we will remember for a long time! We are celebrating reaching such an important milestone in my health journey, as I get back to who I was before my relapse earlier this year. We expected 2026 to be full of hard work and adventure, sailing to new countries an...
