Ep. 172 ~ Join us on our latest sailing adventure as we continue our full-time liveaboard journey through the Mediterranean on our catamaran, Okaliptüs! In this episode, Sailing To Sarandë Albania | Blue Hole & Gjirokastër Fortress, we set sail from Corfu, Greece and make landfall in the vibrant coastal city of Sarandë, Albania.
As full-time cruisers living aboard our sailboat, every passage brings new discoveries. Sarandë welcomed us with lively pirate ship music echoing around the anchorage, a buzzing waterfront lined with restaurants, cafes, and nightlife, and colorful local veggie markets. We rented a car to explore inland, visiting the breathtaking Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër) and the historic hilltop fortress of Gjirokastër — both must-see highlights when sailing Albania.
From there, we continue north under sail, exploring the rugged beauty of northern Albania before crossing the border into Montenegro, another gem of the Adriatic. This sail includes our very first overnight sail aboard Oka! Our sailing channel shares not only our travels and adventures, but also what it’s like living aboard a sailboat full time — the challenges, rewards, sailboat upgrades, and boat life essentials that make this lifestyle possible.
