Ep. 153 ~ Join us as we continue our full-time liveaboard sailing adventure through the stunning Greek Ionian Islands aboard our catamaran! In this episode, we depart from beautiful Vasiliki (Lefkada), sailing south to (Ithaca) Kioni, then on to Vathy and Sami (Kefalonia). Things get chaotic in Sami Harbor as we attempt to stern tie four times—including one disaster where our anchor gets snagged on two abandoned anchors on the sea floor. Watch how we recover, cut them free in the bay, and finally med moor successfully with strong crosswinds blowing us off course.
We also share a helpful lesson on how to Med Moor—perfect for cruisers sailing the Med for the first time.
Next, we make our way north through the Lefkada Channel, navigating its shallow waters and passing through the Lefkas floating bridge for the very first time—an exciting rite of passage for any Mediterranean sailor. We sail past Preveza, where we’ll spend the winter, and visit Vonitsa, climbing to its historic castle overlooking the bay.
This episode is packed with sailing challenges, cruising tips, and Greek island exploration—perfect for those dreaming of retiring on a sailboat, planning long-term cruising, or just looking for boat life inspiration.
Subscribe and follow along as we prepare to dock for the winter, travel to the US, and upgrade our off-grid catamaran with solar panels, lithium batteries, and more!
