Austria Travel Vlog 🇦🇹 | Vienna to Salzburg Nostalgia Road Trip
Ep. 188 ~ In this episode, we leave Vienna behind and road trip west to Salzburg—one of the most meaningful stops of our journey. I spent large parts of my childhood here visiting my grandparents, so returning decades later with Donovan felt nostalgic, emotional, and surprisingly surreal.
We explore Salzburg in winter, from iconic streets like Getreidegasse and Mozart’s birthplace to Fortress Hohensalzburg, Nonnberg Abbey, St. Peter’s Cemetery, and quiet walkways overlooking the old town. Along the way, we dive into Salzburg’s salt-powered history, prince-archbishops, Sound of Music filming locations, and a few personal memories that shaped my love for this city.
This is slow travel at its best—walking, remembering, and experiencing Salzburg beyond the tour buses. While our sailboat rests safely in a marina in Greece, we take this land-based detour to reconnect with the past before returning to life aboard.
