E238 – The Final Leg – Cairo, The Pyramids & The Suez Canal
In this bumper episode, we get an early-morning wake-up call from the Suez Canal Authority as our transit time is suddenly brought forward to 5am. We begin our journey through the canal, stopping at Ismailia Marina to refuel before continuing to our marina berth.
Unfortunately, we soon discover that No Regrets has picked up some heavy oil during the passage, leaving ugly stains running down her sides. As we aren't allowed to clean the hulls ourselves, divers have to be brought in to get her looking respectable again.
With the boat secure, we head into Cairo with a police escort to explore some of Egypt's incredible history. We visit the Pyramids of Giza, Salah El Din Citadel, St Marcus Church and the Zabbaleen — the "Garbage People of Cairo" — before exploring some of the ancient pyramids at Saqqara, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser, Pyramid of Unas, and the Red and Bent Pyramids.
Finally, after an incredible journey through Egypt, we check out and return to the Suez Canal to complete our transit, emerging into the Mediterranean Sea.

Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370!
Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way.
Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea.
