There is lots to think about to sea….
When the weather is calm and Nandji 2 is happily eating up the miles, there really is not a whole lot to do on watch. We live so much in the moment when sailing, And when there’s nothing demanding your attention, your mind has plenty of room to wander. Spending days on end at sea can change your outlook on life. We really appreciate the little things and The feeling of knowing the people you love are right there beside you. Sure we have Brazil as our next destination, but like life, the journey there is just as much fun.
Sitting solo in the cockpit, watching the world slowly drift by under the keel, it is hard not to contemplate about the changes that are silently happening. There are some important decisions to make, the future we are trying to build, and how we can give our family and our expecting baby the best possible life relies on making the best one.
Bonita is halfway through her pregnancy, and suddenly the reality of just how quickly life is changing is sinking in. This baby is coming. And as exciting as that is, the last place we want is to be somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic ocean when the time comes.
So for now, there’s nothing we can do but keep sailing and keep pondering our thoughts.
About 1000 miles still stand between us and the next piece of land.
1000 miles of ocean, and plenty of time to think.
