The Rolling Swell that Ruined My Appetite, Solo to Dieppe

Footage: 2025-09-08, s6, e09 in 21:9. Leaving Boulogne-sur-Mer at 5:30 AM in the pitch black is always an adventure, but this passage to Dieppe (France) turned out to be a bumpy ride.

In this episode, I navigate the harbor in the dark, manage a tricky current-against-wind situation, and deal with unexpected close encounters. From a fishing vessel entering my safe zone to getting a radio call from a ranger at a wind farm under construction demanding I alter my course—the sea kept me on my toes.

With only 7 knots of wind, the PTZ cameras might make the sea look calm, but the relentless rolling swell behind the scenes did a number on my stomach. It's crazy how seasickness completely ruins your appetite and makes even a simple sandwich taste weird!

But it was all worth it when the stunning white cliffs of Dieppe appeared on the horizon.

Grab your favorite drink, sit back, and join me on this rough but beautiful solo voyage!
