Sailing Melody is the official YouTube channel for the Bennington Family and our sailing adventures. We are now well on our way to becoming a full time live-aboard family. We started with a little 24ft Snapdragon bilge keel, and then moved up to a 28ft Great Dane long keel yacht. Now though we're working on MELODY, our 38ft Steel Pilothouse Cutter. We're working hard to get her ready to go back in the water but as you'll see there's a lot of work to do. Andy fills all the holes left by the old wind and depth instruments as we continue to chip away at our restoration of this 40 year old steel sailing yacht.
We will be putting the new instruments in a pod on the steering binnacle with repeaters in the pilothouse so there is really no need for the holes in the pilothouse.
Remember we’re doing all of this so we can go full time cruising as a sailing family in a few years time.
We’re hoping eventually to get the boat set up for single handed sailing so we can relax knowing she is an easy boat to sail in any conditions from light winds to rough seas.
Making sure our mast is in perfect condition along with our rigging is super important and we will be spending a lot of time getting it perfect!
This is obviously a huge refit and refurbishment of this big, old, abandoned steel yacht and it’s not only time consuming, it’s complicated and quite expensive so we really do value any help we can get, whether it’s helpful advice and comments on the video or gifts through our Amazon Wishlist or actual contributions through Patreon, Paypal and Ko-Fi.
