Beach Play, Marinas, Sailboats and Cartwheels Ep 12

Beach Play, Marinas, Sailboats and Cartwheels Ep 12

We went to Galveston and Kemah to look at other marinas. Saw some sailboats. Walked and danced on the beach, chased a few birds and enjoyed some of Galveston’s historical sites. Who knew Karen could do cartwheels.

We looked at a very nice old style sailboat by Formosa. Nicely outfitted, well maintained ketch with a pilot house. It had a large master aft, great main salon, another cabin with a cool diesel fired heater, another cabin kind of used as a utility area, and a forward v-berth cabin. It had a length on deck of 51 foot and a beam over 15 foot.

Looked at 2 different marinas and both were very nice.

The Strand in Galveston is a trendy older restored area with restaurants and shops. The Bishop’s Palace survived the 1900 hurricane and was magnificent. Galveston’s The Balinese Room was a famous nightclub on a pier which was 600 feet long. For many years it was a dance hall and illegal casino. It was famously featured in the ZZ Top song Balinese.
